How does the assessment of the foster family work?
Once you have contacted the agency to apply to become a foster family, you will receive a phone call from a resource worker who will answer your initial questions and help you get started with the application process. You will be visited within a week of completing your application and the worker will begin the home study should you wish to continue. There are several visits and interviews that take place over several weeks and you will be required to complete mutual assessment questionnaires that help both you and the worker determine if fostering is right for you. You will also be required to attend a series of ten trainings that are held in the evening before your home study is approved.
