How does the artist get his ideas for the paintings?
Mostly they begin with a story of some person or incident in Florida history. The subject is then researched as to its truth. Once this is established, all known facts and historical records of the subject are then sought out and the accuracy of all the information is evaluated. If it is determined that the subject will allow for a dramatic portrayal, the elements are then arranged as to the best composition and presentation of the story is determined. The artist usually has a mental image of the end product from a very early stage in this process.
