How does the AquaStar compare to a gas fired chiller?
It is difficult to compare the two since the AquaStar unit uses electricity and the other uses gas. If natural gas is used to power an adsorption chiller (e.g., lithium bromide), it is VERY wasteful because the temperature at which the heat is adsorbed is very low. Usually, the COP (coefficient of performance) is less than 1.0 Btu heat pumped/Btu natural gas heat. For the AquaStar, a typical value is about 8 to 10.
