How does the Alliance interact with the Texas Legislature?
Individual members of the Alliance interact with their elected officials as they see fit. Sometimes the agencies have an agenda that is independent of the Alliance, and often the agendas are the same. The Alliance board hires an Executive Director to interface with the legislature, give input into legislative agendas, and also may authorize a contract with a registered lobbyist. The Alliance provides extensive educational material, briefings and information about the child caring field and the agencies who provide services. The Alliance advocates for safe and high quality services for children and helps legislators understand the contribution private agencies make to children and families in Texas. The Alliance also works closely with the Legislative Budget Board and those who piece together the financing of agency budgets.
