How does the Allegretto Wave Laser compare to other larger beam lasers?
• Answer: The Allegretto Wave Laser ablation is applied in a manner to maintain the original curvature of the cornea. The resulting shape factor value, known as the Q factor, results in a -0.41 to -0.61 value. This provides the purest prolate ellipsoid focus for reducing aberrated vision. At the Shealy Eye Laser Center, we’ve had direct and indirect experience with Nidek, Summit, Visex, imported Summits, ophthalmologist produced custom lasers, and other non-wavefront lasers. This totals 15 different laser systems, back to 1995. We now feel that current laser technology in 2009 exceeds any of the capabilities of these lasers in the past to provide higher quality and high performance vision with the greatest safety.
