How does the Aerospace market differ from other verticals?

Many companies in the aerospace industry are often customers, vendors, and competitors to each other. Therefore there is not always a smooth supply chain. OEMs do repairs for the airlines, while many airlines do their own repair work and actively seek work from other airlines. Third-party repair stations do work for the airlines and for each other as sub-contractors. Everyone buys from the OEMs, but also from each other. The airlines and third-party shops look first to each other for re-built components or surplus material to avoid the high OEM costs.
