How does the Adobe ebook download work?
• The consumer clicks on the hyperlink, initiating a “conversation” between their computer and the Diesel eBooks server. The ebook server looks to see if a copy of the appropriate ebook reader software is installed on the consumer’s computer. • The Diesel eBooks server transfers a file to the consumer’s computer called an EBX file. Once downloaded, this file will execute and tell the Adobe ebook reader software how and where to retrieve the consumer’s ebook file. The Adobe ebook reader software will open and connect to the appropriate ebook server, beginning an initial “conversation” to download the ebook file. • During this initial “conversation” between the two computers, the Diesel eBooks server looks for identification from the consumer’s computer.
