How does the administration and staff support a safe learning environment for all students at Palomar?
The safety of staff and students at Palomar is of paramount concern. Each and every adult on campus is a part of our safety plan. As they go about their jobs, they are aware of what’s going on around them and always attuned to safety concerns which are immediately brought to the attention of the assistant principal. We have a safety committee who meet monthly to stay abreast of current issues. Counselors and peer mediators intervene whenever there is even a rumor of a conflict. This proactive approach includes consistently enforcing rules and policy regarding conflict and safety. Fighting, for example is not tolerated at Palomar. Any student involved in a fight will be sent elsewhere to school. Additionally, we work closely with the Chula Vista Police department. They take part in our emergency drills and are often here on campus as visitors.
