The disorder is found pretty much equally through different socioeconomic groups. ADHD is found in every culture, in every socioeconomic group, in pretty much the same prevalence. . . . I’m aware of one study that showed that black inner-city males were diagnosed with ADHD more commonly than you would expect from the general population. But again, this could be clustering. It could very well be a valid diagnosis. . . . Where is the controversy? . . . It’s not just ADHD that is controversial. The vast majority of people in this country don’t want to acknowledge that children have major mental illnesses of any sort.
