This will mean that a business which generates radioactive waste and wishes to store that material until it is no longer radioactive or dispose of the material will need to hold an appropriate licence which permits that activity. The management licence could also include conditions requiring specific steps be undertaken to ensure safety and security of the radioactive sources involved. It is likely that a future amendment of the National Directory for Radiation Protection will specify as a radiation facility a place which stores specific types of radioactive materials. Victorian regulations made under this Act would then be expected to define such a facility as a radiation facility within the meaning of the Act.
