How does the 4 wheel drive work on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

I recently bought a used 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4×4, no owners manual. The sales person told me he thought it was “automatic” 4 wheel drive. It is not an AWD, it says “4×4” on the vehicle. There is no button on the inside to turn it on. Expecting snow tomorrow….. A: I do not know how to select the 4WD settings, some do not have a transfer case “shifter”. I KNOW that the early 2000’s Laredo had what was known as a “Full time 4WD” feature. It sent power to wheels, as necessary, just like AWD. This is common among Cherokees and may be the case for your ’06. The one that I worked on had buttons for neutral, 4lo and 4hi. It had no 2lo or 2hi (2 wheel drive) because it had the aforementioned “Full time 4WD”. Good luck; if I find more info, I’ll let you know. As above, get the manual.
