How does temperature affect density of water?
That’s probably a more complicated question than you suspected, as the density varies not only by temperature, but by pressure and salinity. However, if you are talking about pure water at (or near) normal atmospheric pressure, it’s most dense a couple of degrees C above the freezing/melting point. Cool the water slightly and it will expand–of course, as we know, ice is less dense than liquid water–or warm it and it will again expand.
