How does TDMG address school climate and classroom management?
The TDMG climate program provides positive responses to appropriate behaviors, consistent consequences for inappropriate behaviors, and supports for students who have difficulty managing their behaviors even with consistent rewards and consequences. Members of the school staff run the program with support from a Talent Development climate facilitator. Talent Development classroom management training addresses five topics critical to maintaining a well-managed classroom: understanding the characteristics of middle grades students placed at risk; establishing positive relationships; planning and preparation; establishing and communicating classroom routines and practices; and employing during-class strategies. Training can be presented as a one-day course or in individual modules.
