How does sustainability differ from environmental stewardship?
Environmental stewardship is just one component of sustainability. The soldiers and civilians who live and work on Fort Bragg practice environmental stewardship every day. This is the management of operations and missions within the confines of Federal, state and Army regulations for compliance. Sustainability focuses on the balance between environment, economic productivity, and social/individual well-being. It is proactive, forward-looking planning to position Fort Bragg for the future — for a time when resources may not be as available as today; when environmental regulations may become more stringent; when population densities may increase throughout our Area of Interest.
