How does sound frequency affect the sound amplitude?
The other answers are all correct. Frequency governs the pitch of the sound. Amplitude governs the loudness of the sound. Middle C on a piano, for example, has one fundamental frequency and a series of overtones (harmonics) for that middle C pitch in a good piano. But we can play C softly or loudly, and it’s still middle C. By striking the key forcefully, we increased the amplitude, but the frequency remained the same. To change the pitch, we must move on to another key on the piano. And that changes the frequency and its harmonics. But the degree of force by which we strike the new key determines how loudly we play that new pitch.
