I believe everyone has a “calling” to a vocation. A vocation is not merely something to make money. Every vocation has dignity if it is lawful and not immoral. You must first have a significant amount of knowledge and skill in a field in order to make a reasoned judgment about what your calling is. A beginner can’t make this judgment and shouldn’t be forced to by a parent’s desire for the child. Someone that is “called” to be a musician will love the process of learning. A person that wants to be a player without practice is either lazy and/or not called to be a player. Making money is the end result of knowledge, skill, diligence and ingenuity. Just because you are not making money at it now doesn’t mean it won’t happen. If you are “called” don’t listen to anyone that is discouraging you to quit. Find encouraging knowledgeable people in your desired field. You must evaluate criticism so you can excel above the competition. Your standard must be perfection and not just to be better tha
