How does someone get into the gifted program?
All students go through a screening in the 2nd grade to identify gifted students. In addition to the screening, students may be referred by a parent or by a teacher for screening. Gifted students are identified using a multiple criteria matrix. This matrix can be downloaded from the Alabama State Department of Education website under Sections: Special Education: Gifted.
