How does someone get a “green card”?
Immigration to the United States is not an easy process. This is very broad question, though frequently asked. Essentially, individuals acquire lawful permanent residence in one of four ways: employment sponsorship, applications by close family members, asylum, and winning the visa lottery (for more on the visa lottery, click here). On occasion, individuals will also receive permanent residence by a judge in deportation or removal proceedings.
