How does Solitude compare to other Utah resorts?
There are three canyons with ski resorts in the Salt Lake City area. Big Cottonwood Canyon hosts Solitude and Brighton Ski Resorts. Little Cottonwood Canyon, just to the south, hosts Alta and Snowbird resorts. To the north, up Parley’s Canyon, is the Park City area, home to Deer Valley, Park City, and The Canyons. Park City and its resorts is a pretty different experience than Solitude. Park City is at a lower elevation, the mountains less majestic, the landscape more open, less rugged, and not as green. There is a lot more action in Park City. The resorts are big, crowded and more expensive. There are lots of cute shops and restaurants on Park City Main Street so there is a lot more to do than ski. There is lots of dining and night life in Park City. Neither Big or Little Cottonwood Canyons host much night life or entertainment.
