How does sociology affect/define nursing as a profession?
None of our readings deal directly with nursing as a profession, although some sociologists, such as Ida Harper Simpson, have studied nursing as a profession, and others, such as Eliot Freidson, have studied the professions more generally and health fields more particularly. In this course you will find readings 19, 20, 28, 44, 45, and 46 in Ferguson particularly relevant to the field of health care. Also, since health professionals deal with all kinds of people from all walks of life, the other readings will help you to learn more about a broad range of people. Q: I was a little confused about Normative statements.
