Just because the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., is cited in Washington Irving’s famous headless horseman tales, that doesn’t mean the pastor is up for marrying a couple there in Halloween costumes on Saturday. Jim Nieves and Lisa Panensky are now looking for a new venue, Westchester County’s Journal News reports. Although the couple had signed a contract a year ago, pastor Jeff Gargaon didn’t get the full picture until Nieves requested such music for the ceremony as the theme from The Addams Family and The Munsters. That’s when he had to break the news that “fun gothic” tunes were not allowed in the 17th-century church. “Sleepy Hollow is the Halloween capital of the world,” said a disappointed Nieves. “It’s a landmark.” Church officials also nixed the couple’s plans to wear Halloween costumes during the ceremony, such as the bride’s black cocktail dress with black veil.
