How does SHINES improve coordination between DFCS and the courts?
Most of the key child welfare information related to children and their families is accessible through SHINES. By providing real-time access to the same information, SHINES ensures shared accountability among those charged with helping vulnerable children and families. Courts no longer have to wait for judicial review before knowing what is happening with a child. Now, court staff can access information in real-time once the case plan has been approved and SHINES interfaces with the court’s reporting system (CPRS).
