How does ScienceDirect handle mixed volume journals like BBA?

0

ScienceDirect has historically made an effort to have online journal collections appear as they do in print; however, some journals have shared volume/issue numbering which causes technical difficulties when displaying them on the web. The journal sections of Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) are an example of shared volume numbering. Since ScienceDirect stores all titles using the journal ISSN as the primary key, BBA is categorized on the Web according to its ISSNs, so all BBA sections are listed separately. We are aware that this can be confusing; however, unless we rearrange the technical infrastructure of ScienceDirect, we cannot group or cluster complete collections of journals with multiple sections and ISSNs.
