How does Save the Children help prevent malaria deaths among babies, young children and pregnant women in Ethiopia?
Save the Children works with caregivers to increase their knowledge of malaria prevention and care. Through this program, they learn how to correctly use a bed net and how to recognize the signs of the illness. They also are encouraged to seek prompt care. Save the Children also trains health extension workers in villages to provide advice to families about malaria prevention and treatment, and to diagnose and treat the disease. These health workers distribute bed nets to households, train teachers on prevention messages and treatment, and provide life-saving medicine to ill children in their communities. #imgcap p{ margin:0px; padding:0px; border: gray solid 1; } Elsa, age 2, with his mother and sister, got medicines to treat his malaria from a health extension worker trained by Save the Children.
