How does salt concentration affect the cytoplasm in a plant cell such as an onion cell.?
Too high of a salt concentration outside of an actual cell would affect osmolarity. If the salt concentration outside of a cell is too high in comparison to inside of the cell, water would be expected to leave the cytoplasm of the cell, causing it to shrivel. I have never done an experiment like this but based on that, I would think you could put leaves in a highly concentrated saline solution and see what happens (it should shrink).
