How Does SADD Work?
As a peer-to-peer youth education program, SADD is different from other organizations. 350,000 active members in SADD’s 10,000 middle school, high school, and college chapters help empower positive student decision-making through activities such as “peer-led classes and theme-focused forums, teen workshops, conferences and rallies, prevention education and leadership training, awareness-raising activities and legislative work.” (from the SADD website). This extensive network allows the SADD message to reach millions of students, parents, and other community members. Starting a SADD Chapter Students who wish to start a SADD chapter in their school or organization should locate an adult sponsor who is willing to oversee meetings and activities. This person will also act as a liaison between the chapter and the school’s administration.
