SAA sponsors a variety of free information resources, including the Archives & Archivists List and SAA Roundtable Discussion Lists, by which archives employers occasionally announce career opportunities. These forums, however, have a number of shortcomings that undermine their effectiveness for job networking: • Discussions are numerous and wide-ranging, meaning that job vacancy announcements can easily be overlooked; and • Many highly-qualified job seekers do not subscribe to these lists. As a result, employers who rely upon postings to SAA’s free email lists may not be reaching their target audience. SAA’s Online Career Center provides a superior value for employers and job seekers to make “career connections.” Since the launch of this service on May 29, 2009, job ads have each received an average of almost 1,500 unique page views–targeted exposure to an audience of highly qualified active job seekers.
