How does residency and apartment rental work?
OK, nothing wrong with honest, sincere questions. You need to be 18 to rent an apartment. UCLA is MUCH nicer area than CSULA. Be sure to visit before making a commitment. You will want to live ON campus. MUCH MUCH cheaper and easier. Rent in LA for a decent 1 BR apartment is about $1200 per month. And in Westwood, it’s twice that. Basically, you need to be free and clear of parental involvement for a year to be considered a resident. Once you enroll as a non-resident, however, you’ll be considered a non-resident unless you have special circumstances: To be considered a California resident for purposes of fees, an out-of-state student must have lived in California for more than one year preceding the residence determination date, relinquish residence in other states, show an intent to establish residency in California and demonstrate financial independence. Unmarried undergraduates from other states qualify as financially independent if they were not claimed by their parents or others a
