How does religion sit within the MPS Diversity Strategy?
1. Religion and belief form a key element of the MPS Diversity Strategy and have dedicated staff attached to the Faith Strand within the Diversity Directorate’s Diversity Central Team (DCT). The diversity strategy works towards the MPS objectives of making London the safest capital city. As the largest employer in London the MPS also aims to provide a working environment where all staff are treated with respect and where possible, make adjustments to enable staff, which observe a religious belief to practice that belief. What does the organisation define as a religious group? Who does this include? Does this exclude anyone/group? 2. There is no definition within existing legislation as to what constitutes a faith or religion. The only guidance available is that a ‘belief’ does not constitute a political belief and ‘no belief’ is a valid belief.
