How does refacing affect the value of my home?
Each year since 1988 Remodeling Magazine has published the Cost vs. Value report with information provided by realtors nationwide. In 2009 in the Chicago area, a “minor kitchen remodel” which they describe as ” leaving cabinet boxes in place but replace fronts with new raised-panel wood doors and drawers, including new hardware”, had one of the highest projected cost recoup of any home improvement project at 83%. A “major kitchen remodel” described as ” new semi-custom cabinets and countertops,” on the other hand, is only projected to recoup about 74% of the project cost.
