How does professional development relate to post-tenure review at our institution?

0

K-State has a triggered approach to post-tenure review that is linked to our annual evaluation system. If the annual evaluation results in a judgment that a faculty member has failed that year to meet the department’s minimal performance standards, then our policies require that the department or unit head shall indicate so in writing to the faculty member and will suggest a course of action to improve the performance of the faculty member. This course of action may involve participation in professional development programs designed to address the areas of performance that need to be improved. If a faculty member is continually engaged in professional development throughout his or her career, the chances of being evaluated as “failing to meet minimal performance standards” will be extremely small, if nonexistent.
