How does Power Reading work? How is it possible to read so fast?
As is fully explained in Power Reading, the basic brain pathways and patterns of your perception and reading are automatic and below the level of your normal conscious control. Most people are still using the old habits they developed when they learned to read aloud as a child. They still use essentially the same skills and now read same way, except silently to themselves. But there are ways to change. Many other courses use special workbooks, exercises, materials or machines to try to do the same job done by Power Reading, but the results are often not as good. For example, you could spend days or weeks doing eye-span perception-expansion exercises designed to help you see more letters and words at a single glance. Often the comment from students doing such exercises is: “I can see a wider area now, but I can’t understand what it says.” This comes from focusing one’s attention on trying to see more instead of comprehending what is seen. It is difficult to concentrate on both at once.
