How does pop-up and pop-under advertising work?
These are among the web’s newest advertising tactics. A pop-up is a window that opens upon entering a specified web page. It is an advertisement that usually remains until the viewer has clicked on it to dismiss it. A pop-under ad pops onto the viewer’s screen behind the currently opened page. Once the page is closed, the advertisement is still on the screen. Does one pop-type advertisement offer over advantages over the other? Both are very effective and have advantages over banner ads in click-through rates. But both have received a lot of negative feedback in the marketplace as being intrusive. But the statistics clearly show that they do work. Pop-unders are deemed less intrusive because they do remain behind the current viewing page until that page is closed.
