How does poetry help people through there feelings?
The fact that you’re 14 and interested in poetry shows a maturity of thought and emotion usually absent at that age. People write, and read, poetry for a variety of reasons. When they have issues that need to be explored, it helps to read poetry that might either show how someone else perceived a similar emotion or situation, or it might provide a means of escape “from” their situation, or it might show them how much better things might be, or how much worse they could be, and that too can be therapeutic. However, sometimes people need to wallow in an emotion…it helps them vicariously commune with others who’ve gone through the same thing, or worse. Sometimes it’s writing about their issues that helps them deal with them in a more objective way, or allows them to project the situation on an imaginary speaker who presents any one of a variety of perspectives. And sometimes people write about things completely unrelated to their issue, only to discover that it has relevancy in a metaph
