How does plumbing work on cruise ships?

Not very well- when something that isn’t supposed to be thrown in the head is. Most ships heads are vacuum type so they don’t use much water. Our ship has a state of the art sewer system who’s wastewater is cleaner than the water we pick up in port (supposedly). The sludge is pressed dry and incinerated I believe since we opperate in a special waters area around Hawai’i. When we crossed from Germany to here we were allowed to discharge greywater at sea, but lawsuits and bad publicity from anyone with a camera kept them from doing it. No ships holding tanks are big enough to keep the complete waste onboard except those working inland waters like a ferry maybe.
