How Does Personal Freedom and Christian Faith Tie Up?
Some might assume that becoming a Christian is a fine way to curtail freedoms, to wrap yourself up in chains of shame and guilt. So why is it that elsewhere in my articles I promote the cause of personal liberty and espouse freedom for all? How can the two tie up? It’s very simple. For me, the Christian walk of faith is about liberation, as it was for Jesus, who said “The truth will set you free.” Every Christian understands the principle of Satan as the enslaver, and that all the things that lead people astray such as addictions and obsessions, are the real limiters of freedom. As you progress on your faith walk, assuming you are doing it right (ie according to the scriptures) and not being manipulated by false prophets, you will find that the very things that are tying you down to bad habits gradually disappear and allow you the freedom to sit up straight and breathe again.
