How does pelvic inflammatory disease spread?
First of all, you have to understand what pelvic inflammatory disease is. It is typically an infection of the uterus and/or fallopian tubes that is usually caused by Chlamydia or gonorrhea. So, the ways that pelvic inflammatory disease would spread are essentially the same as how gonorrhea and Chlamydia spread. These diseases, like may others, are spread from one person to another via sex in the body fluids that are passed from one person to another. We do not necessarily transfer pelvic inflammatory disease from one woman to another via male partners; however, certainly gonorrhea and Chlamydia can be spread from one female to another female via male partners, and in some cases that will spread upwards into the uterus and out the fallopian tubes and cause pelvic inflammatory disease.
