How does Pangaea choose the overseas destination?
Many months of research and planning go into each and every yearlong program. Our dedicated and knowledgeable staff uses strict criteria to determine the most appropriate destination for our participants. One or both of our Executive Directors travels to the destination country well in advance of the actual trip to assess the feasibility of the program. We scout out an appropriate project and organization for our group to volunteer with based on our preexisting criteria(see question below), locate host families within the nearby village to the worksite, hire local staff, secure necessary equipment such as a van and supplies, and establish a relationship with a nearby medical facility.
