How does OSHA define a “competent” person?
A. A Competent Person means: One who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the working environment, or working conditions which are unhealthy, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and someone who has authorization to take prompt corrective action to eliminate them. Any employee authorized, designated, and considered “competent” can conduct occupational safety and health training.
