How does OptiWells Child and Babysitting Safety class compare to the Red Cross training?
It is very similar. Both include safety, play, basic care, safe ways to start a babysitter business, and what to do in emergencies. However, we prefer the BLAST program because it devotes more time to first aid and CPR. Our Babysitter Training includes more pediatric first aid, including CPR and unconcious choking, two skills no longer taught by the Red Cross Babysitter class. In fact we practice on the manikins until we feel we can certify your child in CPR. We also cost less than ARC, especially for groups. Sue has been certifying babysitters since 1992 and Don was the first guy to ever teach Babysitting for the San Diego Red Cross in 1999. Since that time, a majority of the babysitters certified in San Diego County were trained by one or both of us. So if you’ve heard great things about their past Babysitter Trainers, that’s us! We’re here now and we’ve gone into business together to offer YOU an even better program!
