Manufacturing is broken up into three categories: (1) Discrete Manufacturing: Batch – Engineering (e.g., Ford Motor Company puts out a batch of new Explorers) (2) Process Manufacturing: Recipe – Quality Assurance is a huge issue in this process to ensure that a loaf of bread is the same each and every time you purchase it. Food and some Pharmaceuticals fall more into this category. (3) Flow Manufacturing: Continuous process. Usually Oil falls into this category.
