How does one take care of an EPIRB?
EPIRBS are built to very exacting and stringent electrical and mechanical standards and are able to withstand an immense amount of abuse, be it from man or nature. There is however, a limit to what anything can take but this is where care comes in. If the EPIRB is well cared for, it will comfortably last its full expected “lifetime” of up to 15 years. Taking care of an EPIRB is quick and easy. Knowing that it will always be ready when you need it is reassuring; however, routine maintenance is part of having the beacon ready at all times.
