How does one sing through the diaphragm and not through the nose?
Singing through the diaphragm is not just about the breathing. It’s also about the placement of the sound coming out of you. You say your voice comes out from your nose. You have to redirect it into your head. This may sound silly, but try it. Place your hands on your head and sing a note through your nose. Feel how your head vibrates. Now try to sing in order to make your head vibrate even more. It’s easier with loud and low notes. The trick is to make every note “project” into your head. Once you learn that, you’ll be one step closer to getting rid of that nasal singing. Also, check out this website: http://www.melissacross.com She is a vocal coach with a dvd out. Maybe you can find a friend who has it so you can borrow it. Or try your local library. Many libraries have a video section.
