How does one organise to walk in larger groups?
When groups grow larger than expected, make sure there are at least a few experienced members in the group. At least one experienced member stays at the head of the group and another at the tail end. This will ensure that no one is left far behind and lose way. Alternately, one may split a large group into sub-group, each group under the supervision of an experienced member. Typically try and avoid more than 8 people per group. Each group can decide their own pace as long as they have the “end-of-the-day” destination in mind. Mode of communication like 2-way radios will be an invaluable resource when walking n large groups.
