How does one install Leopard on unsupported Macs?
MacInTouch readers have reported success in using two PowerPC-based Macs (G4, G5) to accomplish this. One Mac must be supported by Leopard. Start the other Mac in FireWire Target Disk Mode (see this Apple support article). Run the Leopard installer from DVD on the supported Mac, connect both Macs with a FireWire cable, and select the target Mac’s hard drive from the installer. Note that Leopard will not work on any G3-based Macs, including the original iMac, PowerBook G3, and G3 iBooks.
