How does one identify good quality steel rods?
Good reinforcement bars are of uniform diameter and length (32 feet). The strength or grade of steel is embossed on the surface of the rods. The rods must not be chipped or cracked. When the rod is bent it must not crack or break. The weight-to-length ratio must be according to BIS specification and must be consistent. The yield strength can be ascertained by getting a sample tested at steel testing labs. Billet steel is better steel.
