If a veteran has never applied for VA benefits, his/her military records will be stored at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri. To request those records, whether one needs a copy of the DD-214, Service Medical Records, a 201 File, or all of the above, the request has to be submitted on a VA Form SF-180.http://www.archives.gov/research_room/vetrecs/index.html is the VA Web site for obtaining records from St. Louis.
