The police do not issue a restraining order in GA courts do. If it is an order telling someone not to contact or be around you that is called a NO CONTACT order in GA and you go to magistrate court for it. If it is an order telling someone not to do something else like to stop building over onto your property line, cease and desist selling a product you own etc. that is a different thing but handled much the same way. If a no contact order is needed because of domestic violence, threats etc, that is covered by the Family Violence Act. Go to www.ndvh.org and look up the domestic violence center in your part of Atlanta and they will help get the order.
