How Does One Calculate The RPM Of A Wind Turbine As Relative To The Wind Velocity?
I don’t see how you can calculate the RPM of the rotor unless you know the area which your prop covers when it rotates. The amount of energy your prop gets is proportional to the area which is covers when it rotates. This is proportional to the square of its length. . Then you must know the angles of the blades and how they are shaped from the shaft to the outer ends. Knowing this will give you the efficiency of the prop. As you can see the shape of the airfoil and the wind velocity will determine the RPM. I don’t see any way to calculate the effeciency of the prop. I think it must be measured. . I can’t see how you can calculate RPM relative to wind velocity without knowing the mecanical specs of your prop. I think that your manufacturer must supply you with the mecanical specs of the prop. The data he supplies will come from testing the prop under given wind velocities. From his data you will get the efficency of the prop. Then when you know the rpm relative to wind velocity and the
