How does one become more eloquent?
Here are a few other techniques that I remember doing when I was on the Speech and Debate team back in school: • Practice reading speeches aloud, taking care to speak at a reasonable pace and to articulate individual words. This is particularly important if you tend to mumble or speak quickly. If you’re really serious about this, consider practicing in front of a mirror or videotaping yourself. You’d be surprised at what looks awkward on video that you don’t even notice yourself doing. • Pay attention to filler words such as “like” and “um” and “so”. It may feel less comfortable to replace those words with pauses, especially if you don’t deal well with silence, but you will end up sounding more eloquent. • Practice explaining ideas to people to better organize your ideas. Some people like to explain ideas top-down, summarizing the idea first and then diving into illuminating examples; others like to explain ideas bottom-up, starting with a fascinating anecdote first and then proceeding
